My Story

Jenn Schvaneveldt is a wife, mother of three, nana of two, and proud dog mom whose life has been deeply shaped by her family’s journey with special needs. As the mother of a son with autism and a daughter with a rare genetic disorder resulting in severe intellectual and developmental disabilities, she has spent more than two decades advocating for individuals with special needs, researching resources and programs, and learning best practices to support each person’s unique abilities. Nine years ago, she became a special education teacher so she could share the same schedule as her daughter and remain actively involved in her care. In 2025, she stepped away from the classroom to focus on being fully present for her family while pursuing her long-standing passion for creating meaningful opportunities for adults with disabilities. As Vice President of the Board of Directors for Shining Stars ISS, Jenn is honored to help build a community where participants can continue learning, develop friendships, enjoy enriching activities, and experience the highest possible quality of life while truly shining as individuals.
